Sergio Garcia’s week from hell at the U.S. Open took on legendary proportions Saturday when he posted a score of 10 on Merion Golf Club’s dastardly par-4 15th hole.

Sergio Garcia is 18-over par on the 15th hole at Merion after three rounds of the U.S. Open.
Garcia knocked three shots out of bounds on the hole ranked fourth-hardest through early play this week, according to PGATour.com’s Brian Wacker. Wacker said the USGA -- which Zach Johnson complained to Golf Channel’s Randall Mell “manipulates golf courses” -- had set up the 397-yard hole so that OOB was more of a possibility.
Garcia began the day on the 11th tee at 6-over, but thanks to his fun on 15, he made the turn at 14-over. The eight-time PGA Tour winner -- who posted an eight on the hole on Thursday -- began the week writing Tiger Woods an apology note for his fried chicken crack and worried that the whole incident might be a distraction as he tried, once again, to capture his first major title.
With hecklers yelling “fried chicken!” and making cackling sounds at the 33-year-old Spaniard, however, it looks like his fears were warranted.
Johnson, by the way, missed the cut but ... got away with only a 2-over on Sergio’s new favorite hole.
