Big names like Brandt Snedeker, Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson are in Memphis this week for the 2013 FedEx St. Jude Classic with the hope of fine-tuning their game prior to the US Open in two weeks.
FedEx St. Jude Classic 2013: Brandt Snedeker, Phil Mickelson get in final tune-up before Merion
A group of the world’s best players are competing this week at the FedEx St. Jude’s Classic in Memphis for their final tune-up before the US Open.

For Snedeker, 2013 started off on a strong note. He recorded four top-3 finishes by the end of February, including a victory at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Since that time, however, injury and poor swings have forced Snedeker to miss three tournament cuts and a WD at the WGC Cadillac Championship.
A similar story can be told for Mickelson. After winning the Waste Management Phoenix Open (where Snedeker finished runner-up), Lefty has struggled on a roller coaster season that includes two missed cuts at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March and the Players Championship at Sawgrass. Like Snedeker, Mickelson’s success at Merion in two weeks may rest on how well he can put four quality rounds together this week in Memphis.
Dustin Johnson, however, may be the most surprising disappointment of the season. After winning the season’s first event at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in January, DJ has missed three cuts and also withdrew from the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Players Championship due to injury. He’s since struggled to break into the Top-25 all year, having done so only four times in 12 events.
Three of the world’s top players have been anything but consistent this year, but as any golf fan knows, major championships come to whomever can keep it together for one week.
