U.S. Open odds 2013: Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy favored at Merion

The three favorites this week will all play together during the first two rounds at Merion.

USA TODAY Sports

With the FedEx St. Jude Classic now over, it’s officially U.S. Open week. The first ball won’t be struck until just after sunrise on Thursday, but the oddsmakers, as you’d expect, already have the biggest names in the world as the favorites. Three of the four players with the lowest odds will actually play together through the first two days of the tournament -- Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and Adam Scott.

Tiger will always be the favorite in any tournament he enters, but for awhile, it was strictly based on starpower and past success. But over the last 18 months, he’s made the climb back to No. 1 in the world and it appears he’ll remain there for another long stretch. Tiger was also the overwhelming, and deserved, favorite at Augusta and save for an unlucky break at No. 15 on Saturday, he may have pulled off his first Masters win since 2005. America’s national championship was the last major victory for Woods, who won on the broken leg at Torrey Pines in 2008. Can he end the drought at Merion, a classic layout that will demand accurate hybrid and iron play off the tee?

Here are the Sunday night odds one week before a winner will (likely) be crowned at Merion, via Bovada:
