Graeme McDowell is one victory short of Tiger’s league-leading four wins in 2013 and creeping up on the world No. 1 in the standings.

The 2010 U.S. Open champion fired a final-round 4-under 67 to win last week’s French Open by four strokes over Richard Sterne and climb over Phil Mickelson, Brandt Snedeker, and Luke Donald to inch closer to Woods, the only other PGA or European Tour player to earn at least three Ws this season. Closing at 9-under for the week in his final pre-British Open tune-up, G-Mac climbed from No. 9 to No. 6 in the standings.
With his win in Paris, McDowell became a favorite to battle Woods, who’s nursing an elbow injury, for the Open Championship title next week. Rory McIlroy’s Northern Irish countryman has had a truly up-and-down year, with five missed cuts to go with three triumphs in his last eight worldwide tourneys.

The winner of last week’s Greenbrier Classic, Jonas Blixt, rocketed up from 103rd to 51st in the rankings. Woods and McIlroy continue to hold onto to the 1-2 spots, with newly crowned U.S. Open winner Justin Rose in third and reigning Masters champion Adam Scott in the clean-up spot. Matt Kuchar, McDowell, Snedeker, Mickelson, Donald, and Louis Oosthuizen round out the top 10.
