Gary Player plays naked golf for ESPN’s Body Issue

Gary Player and Carly Booth join a growing number of golfers baring almost all for ESPN The Magazine’s annual Body Issue.

Gary Player pioneered fitness in professional golf and is proud to show off his buff, 77-year-old physique. Just about all of it that is, as Mr. Fitness bares his 5-foot, 7-inch, 150-pound self for the cameras of ESPN The Magazine’s Body Issue.

Player, a workout and nutrition fanatic since his youth, scoffed when people told him that weight-training and golf could never mesh.

“People of my age, they’re dead,” the nine-time major-winning World Golf Hall of Famer says in a video that accompanies his 2013 turn as the game’s Charles Atlas. “I’m just beginning, man.”

Other golfers who have shared their secrets with The Mag include Suzann Pettersen in last year’s issue, Sandra Gal, Anna Grzebian, Christina Kim, and Camilo Villegas. This time around, European Tour golfer Carly Booth joins Player as the only golfers to grace the pages that also boast the 12-pack abs and inked-up pecs of 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick and Mets pitcher Matt Harvey, among other stripped-down hunks.
