2013 PGA Championship leaderboard: Jim Furyk and Jason Dufner trade birdies

Jim Furyk and Jason Dufner are dialed in, trading birdies as they head to the turn.

The leaders are beginning to pull away from the field as Jason Dufner, Jim Furyk and Henrik Stenson continue to play well. Everyone is currently chasing Dufner, who leads at 11-under.

Back-to-back birdies gave Dufner the lead early Sunday, but he didn’t remain alone at the top for long. Furyk didn’t have a lot of good birdie opportunities early, settling for five pars to begin the round, but found success on the sixth hole to get back into the thick of things.

His tee shot didn’t leave him with much of a try on No. 6, but Furyk proved you don’t have to hit it close to make birdie. He drilled the long, breaking putt for birdie to join Dufner at 10-under.

Dufner would answer back two holes later with his best approach shot of the round. Dufner nearly carded an eagle on No. 8, hitting his approach shot to within a foot of the cup. He tapped in for his third birdie of the day and sole possession of the lead.

Stenson is the only other player within shouting range of the lead. He’s 1-under on the round and 8-under overall. With Dufner and Furyk playing well, Stenson may need a very strong closing nine if he’s going to be a factor.
