Jason Dufner drills another approach, moves to 12-under

After this week at Oak Hill, Dufnering may now be known as drilling approach shots to within a few inches.

Jason Dufner has been solid off the tee and good on the green this week, but he’s been phenomenal from 150 yards and in. That was once again the case on No. 16, when Dufner moved to 12-under by sticking another approach shot.

With a sand wedge in hand, Dufner sent his approach shot a few feet past the pin, spinning it back to within a couple feet for his fourth birdie of the day.

Dufner has had issues on short putts at times, though he had no issue with this putt, drilling it dead center. All aspects of his game have been sharp, with his short irons just at another level. It began on Friday when he notched an eagle from the fairway on No. 2.

Unbelievably, Dufner’s shot on the 16th wasn’t even his best approach shot of the round. Dufner stuck his approach on No. 8 within a few inches, setting up another easy birdie.

Dufner has a two-stroke lead with just two holes to play. If he continues to drill approach shots, he could be well on his way to winning the first major championship of his career.
