Reed and Jordan Spieth were both at 14-under after 72 holes, forcing a playoff. Spieth entered the fourth round one stroke behind Reed, shooting a 5-under 65 Sunday while Reed shot a four-under 66.
Reed, who held a share of the lead in the final three rounds, had a chance to win the playoff after the first hole, but missed an eight-foot birdie putt while Spieth sank a 26-foot putt for par to extend the round. He recovered, using an impressive second shot to set up a birdie for his first PGA win.
John Huh entered Sunday tied with Reed at 10-under. Huh shot a 2-under 68, tying Brian Harman for third. Matt Jones turned in an impressive final round, finishing the day at 8-under to earn a tie for fifth place with Matt Every and Zach Johnson.
