Rickie Fowler plays crime-buster ‘Dick Fowler, P.I.’ in amusing new video ads

NORTON, Mass. -- Rickie Fowler had a few observers doing double-takes beside TPC Boston’s practice green late Thursday afternoon.

Nothing strange about seeing the hard-working winner of the 2012 Wells Fargo Championship nailing one 10-foot, right-to-left breaker after another until he was satisfied with his stroke.

But who was that guy with the flat-billed baseball cap and “Dick Fowler, P.I.” facial hair standing against a post as his PGA Tour doppleganger (sans the ‘70s aviator shades) prepared for Friday’s kickoff to the 2013 Deutsche Bank Championship?

Dick Fowler, as Rickie fans well know from his instagram account, is the golfer’s handlebar-mustachioed alter-ego who appears in two amusing new Farmers Insurance commercials, roaming from course to course busting rules scofflaws under the slogan, #ToSwingAndProtect.

As for the fence-leaner, he declined to disclose his identity though he graciously agreed to pose for a photo with Boston radio personality, Liza Churchill, before disappearing into thin air. Sounds like a case for Dick Fowler, P.I.!
