Jason Dufner holes out eagle from fairway to start 2nd round

Not a bad way to quickly move up the leaderboard early in your round.

With more rain pelting Oak Hill throughout Friday morning, the PGA Championship course is yielding low scores and lots of red numbers. The soft and receptive greens allow the players to stick their approach shots, particularly with wedges, right on top of the cup.

Jason Dufner did better than sticking his approach on just his second hole of the day. The second at Oak Hill is a shorter par-4, less than 400 yards, which allows these guys to take a low iron into the green. Dufner lofted his ball about 30 feet past, spinning it back down right into the cup for the eagle:

And there’s your shot of the day so far. The eagle moves Dufner to 4-under for the week and puts him right in it early in his second round. The same kind of shot by Martin Kaymer, who canned it from 153 yards out on Thursday, shot the German up the board and into contention. Given the conditions, those two may not be the last this week to sink it from the fairway.
