Conditions are prime for scoring at Oak Hill on Friday and a number of players are taking advantage by going low. Tiger Woods is not among those players and he’s now right on the cut line at 2-over, nine strokes off the lead.
2013 PGA Championship: Tiger Woods struggling early as others go low
Birdies are dropping all over Oak Hill, but Tiger Woods has yet to get in on the action.

Woods has found trouble off the tee on Friday, starting with his opening tee shot. He found the deep rough and was forced to chip out. A long putt allowed him to save par on No. 1, but he ran into more trouble on the second hole. Woods took a long iron off the tee in an attempt to find the fairway. The conservative strategy didn’t pay off as once again Woods’ ball landed in the second cut.
His approach shot sailed long of the green, leaving a tricky chip back. Woods’ chip left him with roughly 10 feet to save par. He missed the putt right to drop an early stroke. The projected cut line is 2-over, so Woods will need to avoid more trouble if he’s going to be around for the weekend.
Although Woods is struggling, several players are taking advantage of prime scoring conditions. Robert Garrigus is now tied for the lead at 7-under with four birdies on his first seven holes. Jason Dufner is 4-under through six holes, thanks in part to an eagle on No. 2.
Dufner is one of four players tied for third place at 6-under. Paul Casey is 3-under through six holes, joining Dufner at 6-under overall. Here is a look at the top of the leaderboard and a few other notable names.
