Deutsche Bank golf championship 2013 leaderboard: John Merrick moves into top 10

Merrick headlines a field of golfers making a move early in the third round.

Hunter Martin

The third round of the 2013 Deutsche Bank championship is finally underway following a three-hour delay because of inclement weather. John Merrick is one of a handful of golfers to make an early move on Sunday, shooting 4-under through the first five holes of the round to improve his overall score to 10-under for the event.

Merrick’s mark of 10-under is three strokes back of tournament leader Sergio Garcia. Garcia, 13-under, holds a one-stroke lead over Roberto Castro and Henrik Stenson. Garcia, Castro and Stenson are all set to tee off at 2:15 p.m. ET and may have their third round delayed once again because of darkness.

Tiger Woods is 1-under through three holes, birdying on No. 2 to get his round off to a positive start. Woods now sits five strokes back of Garcia and could be poised to make a run to the top of the leaderboard if he continues putting well. Phil Mickelson’s third round just began, as well, and he sits at 8-under for the event.
