Northern Trust Open 2014: Tee times, pairings for Saturday’s round

After another week where the cut had to be made on Saturday morning, the tee times are now set for the third round in LA.

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

For the second straight week, the PGA Tour had to make the midpoint cut Saturday morning. At Pebble Beach, some inclement weather affected the original schedule but at Riviera this week, slow play and a jammed tee sheet led to two straight rounds getting called early due to darkness.

The last few groups finished up their round Saturday morning, and the Tour quickly made the cut and set the tee times for Saturday’s third round. The weather is supposed to stay perfect in LA throughout the weekend, so there should be no issues wrapping this up on time Sunday evening now that the field is more manageable.

Riviera is one of the great American courses, and one of the most classic layouts all season on Tour. It is regularly rated as one of the Tour pros favorites, and some of the bigger names will be in the hunt throughout the weekend. Dustin Johnson, the first round leader, missed some opportunities at birdie coming into the house on Friday but he’s just three shots off the pace of leader Sang-Moon Bae. Barring disaster, Johnson will be one of the favorites to pick up his second win of the season. He will be play with Jim Furyk and Blake Adams, starting at 12:25 a.m. ET. Jordan Spieth, Keegan Bradley, and Jimmy Walker are some of the other names chasing Bae, last year’s winner at the Byron Nelson.
