Ian Poulter lives for match play. Yup, that’s what this bracketologist typed some 24 hours ago in a pre-Accenture Match Play Championship preview that boosted the 2012 Ryder Cup hero to make it all the way to the Final 4.
Ian Poulter down early to Rickie Fowler in match play
Rickie Fowler has Ian Poulter on the ropes midway through their opening match at Dove Mountain.

Filled out my #matchplay bracket in 2 minutes. Poulter to win. He's 3 down to Fowler. Should have spent 3 minutes on it.
— John Swantek (@jswangolf) February 19, 2014 To advance into the finals, the wardrobe-conscious Brit would have to start by knocking off his equally flamboyantly threaded competitor, Rickie Fowler, in Wednesday’s first round. Seemed something of a no-brainer, given Fowler’s recent record of three consecutive missed cuts.
Poulter lost in the first round in 2011 and 2012. It may happen again, with Fowler now 3UP through 7. Anyone see that coming? #WGC
— Kieran Clark (@KieranClarkGolf) February 19, 2014 Guess we didn’t account for the swing changes the flat-billed winner of the 2012 Wells Fargo Championship has made under the watchful eye of one of Tiger Woods’ former coaches.
Tremendous start from Rickie Fowler, who has been implementing swing changes with Butch Harmon...He is now 2UP on Ian Poulter. #WGC
— Kieran Clark (@KieranClarkGolf) February 19, 2014 Fowler got off to a sizzling start, with birdies on three of his first seven holes at Dove Mountain to go 3-up after seven. Poulter bounced back with a birdie of his own on the par-5 eighth and made the turn at 2-down.
