Tiger Woods Foundation chief joins PGA Tour
Greg McLaughlin, who offered 16-year-old Tiger Woods his first PGA Tour exemption and later became the head of the Tiger Woods Foundation, will take on an executive position with the tour.

“I’m so thankful for the leadership and good times he’s provided over the last 14 years,” Woods posted on his Facebook page Tuesday night about the guy who gave the 16-year-old future major champion his first tour exemption. “Thanks to your hard work, Greg, the Foundation has exciting things ahead. All the best to you.”

McLaughlin, president and chief executive of the TWF since 2000, was tourney director of the former Nissan Open (today’s Northern Trust Open) at Riviera when he offered the teenaged Woods an exemption into his first tour contest.
McLaughlin, who also ran the Honda Classic, Western Open, and Woods’ three tourneys -- the AT&T National, Deutsche Bank Championship, and World Challenge -- said in a statement he would enter the executive ranks of the tour but did not say what his new job would entail.
