Tiger Woods won’t be at Pebble Beach this week, but his favorite NFL quarterback will be, as Peyton Manning will join Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, and a couple other QBs in this week’s celebrity pro-am.

When if comes to the Pebble beach Pro-Am, the word 'celebrity' is pretty broadly defined. Here's a breakdown of some of the amateurs you may or may not already know. Fresh from a 43-8 rout in the Meadowlands, the league’s Most Valuable Player will put his 7-handicap on the line along with a pair of guys he easily defeated two weeks before his demoralizing dismantling in Super Bowl XLVIII -- Patriots signal-caller, Tom Brady, and coach Bill Belichick, tournament officials announced Tuesday afternoon.
Fellow pigskin tossers Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay) and Alex Smith (Kansas City) will also be among the several celebrity amateurs in the field starting Thursday on the fabled oceanside links.
The quarterback Tiger Woods named the best ever and backed to win his second Lombardi Trophy, has played with the PGA Tour’s version of the MVP in a couple of pro-am events, including the 2009 Wells Fargo Championship and 2005 Arnold Palmer Invitational.

In his first and only Pebble appearance in 2300, Peyton partnered with Webb Simpson. The duo played together in Peyton’s first Pebble stint in 2009.
Brady and Belichick are regulars at Pebble, where Coach Hoodie looked forward, after his team’s 26-16 AFC Championship loss to Denver, to drowning his sorrows on the golf course.
“I’ll take all my frustrations out at Pebble Beach,” Belichick told the Boston Globe after Manning once again bounced New England out of the post-season . “See if I can hit the ball over the water instead of into it for a change.”
Had he not sustained an ankle injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday night’s massacre, we imagine new fairway maven Richard Sherman might have thrown his helmet into the Pebble Beach mix. Alas, Seattle’s star cornerback and cocky golfer wannabe was sporting crutches for his post-game closeups so Manning won’t have to face his nemesis as he tries to wind down from the devastation of the end to his record-breaking season.
