Peyton Manning may be Tiger Woods’ favorite quarterback but the Broncos’ record-breaking signal-caller does not count golf’s top-ranked player among those he would most like to tee it up with for a friendly round.
Peyton Manning’s favorite golf foursome would be a family affair
Tiger Woods picked Peyton Manning to go all the way in Super Bowl XLVIII but the NFL MVP would not pick the PGA Tour’s Player of the Year to play in his dream foursome.

Instead, for Manning, who was a late entry into this week’s AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am after a devastating 43-8 Super Bowl loss to the Seahawks Sunday night, a perfect golf grouping would be a family affair.
“That’s a pretty fun foursome,” the NFL’s MVP told PGA.com about his dream foursome, which would include father Archie and brothers Eli and Cooper. “We’re together so rarely, the chance for us to get together is pretty special.”
Denver’s QB will take his second twirl around Pebble as one of the celebrities in the PGA Tour’s annual stop on the Monterey Peninsula. Though he plays to a 4.9 handicap index out of Castle Pines Golf Club, not far from where he plies his trade at Mile High, Manning was realistic about his skills compared with, say, Woods, with whom he partnered at the 2009 Wells Fargo Championship and 2005 Arnold Palmer Invitational.
“I know what my day job is,” Manning said. “Just try to bang it around and hopefully not hurt anybody this weekend.”
Still, if he could set the way-back machine, Peyton might have hit a few more golf balls in his youth.
“I didn’t play much as a kid. I used to say I wish I played more as a kid, but probably wouldn’t have my current job if I played more as a kid,” said Manning, who will play with pro Scott Langley when the festivities kick off on Thursday at Pebble.
“I played football, baseball, basketball -- as far as my priorities,” said Tiger’s pick to go all the way on Sunday. “For me, it’s a good getaway, that’s kind of why I’m here this weekend ... kind of get away from your current job.”
As for actual celeb-pro pairings this week, in addition to Manning/Langley, Patriots flame-thrower Tom Brady will team with Ricky Barnes, whose father played with New England back in the ‘70s; Pats coach Bill Belichick drew Massachusetts native and diehard Boston sports booster, James Driscoll; and John Daly will pal around with one of Tiger’s favorite partners, Kid Rock.
