Peyton Manning and Bill Belichick took their fierce rivalry from the football field to the golf course Wednesday when the two NFL foes played a practice round at Pebble Beach ahead of this week’s national pro-am tournament.

Peyton Manning and Bill Belichick are both entered in this week’s AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, but what were the odds the two rivals would go head-to-head in a practice round?

Manning, who entered the PGA Tour event at the last minute, after he and his Broncos suffered a 43-8 Super Bowl beat down on Sunday, joined Belichick and Pebble Beach chief executive and zealous Pats fan, Bill Perocchi, according to the San Francisco Chronicle’s Ron Kroichick.
The outing was somewhat awkward, Kroichick reported, which should come as no surprise given the duo’s gridiron history, the latest chapter of which had Manning outplaying Belichick and his own QB of some repute, Tom Brady, in the January 19 AFC Championship game.

— NFL (@nfl) February 5, 2014 Perocchi was the probable link between the two, according to Kroichick, who watched Belichick blast a low liner down the right side of the fairway on the first hole, perhaps thanks to some tips he picked up from Tiger Woods’ former coach, Hank Haney.
