Tiger Woods may not be in attendance this week in Augusta — the first Masters the world No. 1 will miss since 1994 — but that does not mean he’s not keeping score at home.
Tiger Woods tweets about watching Big 3 kick off the Masters
Tiger Woods enjoys seeing Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player hit their ceremonial tee shots to start the 78th Masters.
Woods, laid up after back surgery late last month to repair a herniated disc, tweeted his regards from home after watching Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player hit their ceremonial tee shots to kick off the 78th running of the Masters.
It never gets old watching the honorary starters tee off. One of the oldest and best traditions in the game.
— Tiger Woods (@TigerWoods) April 10, 2014 The Twitter-verse greeted Woods’ comments with a variety of reactions.
@TigerWoods I am sure it was a sight to see. But, I missed it because I am not watching until you return.
— Tony Thompson (@tonykwame) April 10, 2014 Some wondered if Woods would actually turn on his TV if he could not be among those competing.
@StinaSternberg You really think @TigerWoods is watching?
— Ron Whitten (@RonWhittenGD) April 10, 2014 Still others looked forward to seeing Woods take his place early Thursday morning many years from now.
@TigerWoods just think about it Tiger,,,,,one day,,,you will be an honorary starter #GetWellSoon
— The G-Man #κακόπαιδί (@Habs_luckycharm) April 10, 2014 @TigerWoods some day you'll be playing in the starting group. Some day... ;)
— Golf76com (@golf76com) April 10, 2014 Though he may be feeling a bit like an oldster, what with his injury-plagued body down for the count until some time later in the summer, we’re sure the 14-time major champion hopes it will be eons and at least five major title wins before he ascends to the ranks of honorary starter.
Perhaps the best suggestion for how Woods might spend his forced vacay came from a former sportscaster.
@TigerWoods I think you should live tweet the #Masters. It would be highly informative and entertaining.
