The Masters champion won’t be crowned until Sunday, but there will be a trophy given out on Wednesday with the 54th Masters Par 3 Contest. One of the more popular Masters traditions, the Par 3 Contest will feature players in the field and a handful of former Masters winners. Viewers not able to watch in person will have the ability to watch two hours of the action online.

ESPN will handle the television coverage for the event, with the broadcast scheduled to run from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. ET. Viewers will have two options to stream the broadcast online with WatchESPN and Masters.com both providing a live stream. Although the Par 3 Contest will begin around noon, many of the bigger names will take their turn around the course during the television broadcast window.
The Masters Par 3 Contest consists of nine par-3 holes. The shortest checks in at 70 yards, while the longest doubles that figure at 140 yards. Players tend to have a lot of fun with the event, often times participating along with their families. From babies dressed in caddy gear to young golfers taking their turn on an Augusta National green, the event is a unique spectacle and a family affair.
There is still a competition, however, with the winner taking home a trophy. Some players might prefer not to win as no player has won the Par 3 Contest and gone on to win the Masters in the same year. That curse often leads to guys who are playing well either throwing their final hole or not turning in an official scorecard.
Par 3 Contest schedule:
Start: Noon
Television: ESPN - 3 to 5 p.m.
Online: Masters.com, WatchESPN - 3 to 5 p.m.
