Martin Kaymer made history during the first three rounds of the U.S. Open, setting the Pinehurst No. 2 course record in a U.S. Open and the 36-hole U.S. Open record. Now, on Sunday, he’ll attempt to avoid making more history. At least in terms of adding his name to the list of biggest final-round collapses. Kaymer will try to hold onto his five-stroke lead and record a wire-to-wire U.S. Open win. Viewers will be able to watch nearly every key shot live, thanks to extended television coverage and multiple online streams.

Not only will there be extended television coverage for the final round of the U.S. Open, but viewers will be able to watch it and other live coverage online.

At 8-under, Kaymer is in great position to come away with the win. The course hasn’t been as hard as some previous U.S. Open tracks, but it hasn’t let up many red numbers and certainly isn’t the type of course where a player is likely to score in the low 60s and catch Kaymer. Instead, if he does lose, it will likely be at least partially because he comes back to the field. If Kaymer doesn’t come away with the title, he would be the first player since 1919 to lead the U.S. Open by five or more strokes and not win the tournament. That isn’t likely to happen, however, at least according to oddsmakers. Kaymer is a massive 1/3 favorite to win. Henrik Stenson and Rickie Fowler are tied for the second-best odds at 10/1.
Regardless of what happens on Sunday, viewers will be able to follow along with the final round online thanks to a pair of online streams. NBC will handle the final-round television coverage, with the broadcast running from noon to the end of the round. With the final groups teeing off after 3 p.m. ET, viewers will be able to watch the key shots as they happen and can do it all online thanks to a live simulcast stream from NBC LiveExtra. In addition to the simulcast stream, USOpen.com will provide a live stream of Nos. 9 and 18. That will allow viewers to see nearly every player at the final hole, where the championship will eventually be decided. Whether the tournament ends with Payne Stewart-like drama as it did in 1999 at Pinehurst, remains to be seen.
Kaymer is set to tee off at 3:35 p.m. and will play with fan-favorite Fowler. Fowler will open the final round at 3-under and tied for second place. He was one of just two players to shoot under par on Saturday and a similar round on Sunday could have him pushing for the lead. Erik Compton, Stenson, Dustin Johnson and Brandt Snedeker will all begin the final round in red numbers.
In addition to the online streams, PGA Tour Radio on Sirius-XM and ESPN Radio will provide radio coverage of the final round from 2 to 8 p.m.
