Following a three-month layoff because of back surgery, Tiger Woods will make his PGA Tour return on Thursday. Viewers not on the grounds at Congressional, however, will have to wait until Friday to watch him play live. Woods is scheduled to tee off at 8:12 a.m. ET, well before live television coverage begins at 2:30 p.m. Woods is still likely to be a major focus of coverage, and there will be plenty of highlights, but live coverage of him on the course will have to wait until the second round.
Quicken Loans National 2014 live stream: How to watch online, TV coverage and more
While Tiger Woods will make his return to competitive golf on Thursday, viewers won’t be able to watch him play live until Friday. They will, however, be able to watch extended coverage of the afternoon wave on Thursday.

Tiger's Return
Although the television coverage of Woods on Thursday will be limited to highlights, it still figures to be extensive. There aren’t many golfers who could take precedence over live coverage without shooting a sub-60 round, but Woods is certainly one of them. His round would be a major focus if he weren’t coming back from injury, but the fact that the first round will be his first competitive round since March and will be at a tournament he hosts only adds to it. There will be an extra hour of television coverage during the early rounds of the Quicken Loans National, but unlike some tournaments, there won’t be a featured holes or featured group stream. Those online options would have allowed viewers to catch at least a glimpse of Woods and his pairing of Jordan Spieth and Jason Day. Instead, that trio will be featured predominantly on Friday when they tee off in the afternoon wave.
Though Woods will have signed his card long before live coverage begins on Golf Channel, there will be a few notable names on the course during the broadcast. The 120-player field includes 74 PGA Tour winners and 16 major championship winners. Three of those will form one of the notable afternoon groups with Justin Rose, Keegan Bradley and Ernie Els scheduled to tee off at 1:12 p.m. They will likely be playing the second half of the front nine when coverage begins. Jason Dufner, K.J. Choi and defending Quicken Loans champion Bill Haas will tee off one group earlier with a 1 p.m. tee time.
In addition to the television coverage, the Golf Channel broadcast will also be available online via a live online simulcast from Golf LiveExtra. PGA Tour Network will provide radio coverage from 1-7 p.m. Here is a complete look at the first round coverage. All times Eastern.
