The Open Championship is the best major for many reasons, one of which is the ridiculous British crowd that often gets involved in the broadcast. The outfits and the adult beverage consumption often make the people-watching at this event better than any other.
There’s a giant octopus hovering over the 4th green at the British Open
Who knows.

This display, however, is just random and weird. Apparently a Hoylake home that abuts the fourth green at Royal Liverpool decided it would be fun to put an enormous octopus coming out of a window. It has a custom scoreboard and everything.
There’s probably no explicable inspiration for this display, but it reminds us of the infamous pants that Billy Horschel wore at last year’s U.S. Open.
Well here they are! The highly anticipated highly controversial....Octopus pants! Great outfits all week by RLX! pic.twitter.com/UrQwSYWZkB

UPDATE: Apparently this is part of an advertising campaign for Betfair, an Engish book. This makes us sad (via TheDrum)
“To celebrate the start of The Open, Betfair is hosting a party ‘In an Octopus’s Garden’. It’s our nod to the song ‘Octopus’s Garden’ by Liverpool’s most famous sons, The Beatles”.
A better explanation, I suppose.
