2014 British Open weather forecast: Some showers expected Friday & Saturday, winds pick up

Rain showers Friday morning will move across the Hoylake area, and winds will begin to increase and the weather elements should have an impact on today’s second round at the 2014 British Open.

Rain showers will move over the Royal Liverpool Golf Club Friday morning with strong gusty winds. While most of the rain showers will take place in the morning, there could be a few isolated showers and storms in the afternoon. The story today will be the strong gusty winds out of the southeast. Sustained winds could be between 15 and 20 mph but a few gusts could reach 30 mph.

Friday will be the windiest day, but Saturday could be the wettest. A storm system passing by to the east will spread more rain showers over the region during the day. Some of those showers could be heavy with a few thunderstorms. By Sunday, the rain and the system pass by and we will have dry weather for the final round.

FRIDAY - SECOND ROUND WEATHER FORECAST
Mostly cloudy with rain showers in the morning. There will be a spot or two of sunshine with a chance of isolated showers and storms in the afternoon. It will be windy with a southeast wind between 15 and 25 mph and occasional gusts 30 to possibly 35 mph. High temperature of 79. SATURDAY - THIRD ROUND WEATHER FORECAST

This is going to be the wettest day of the tournament. Off-and-on showers with occasional thunderstorms are possible. Temperatures will cool, with highs in the upper 60s and winds will be out of the north between 5 to 15 mph.

SUNDAY - FINAL ROUND WEATHER FORECAST

Final round will be drier but expect mostly cloudy skies with a spot or two of sunshine. Winds will be out of the west between 5 to 15 mph with a high temperature near 70 degrees.
