Defending Greenbrier Classic champion Jonas Blixt got off to a strong start on Thursday, with an opening round of 64. That was good for his fifth straight round of 67 or better at The Old White TPC. He will get a chance to extend that streak on Friday when he opens the second round with a one-shot lead.
Greenbrier Classic 2014: Tee times, TV schedule, streaming for Friday’s second round
The Greenbrier Classic will continue at The Old White TPC on Friday with 30 players beginning the round within three strokes of the lead.

Blixt was one of several players to go low in the first round and 17 will begin the second round at 4-under or better. Unless poor weather makes for unfavorable conditions, scores figure to go low again in the second round and it may take a round in the mid-60s to keep pace. Some players closer to even par might need to go low in order to make the weekend. That includes Tom Watson and Nick Faldo, who are playing this week to gear up for the British Open in two weeks. Both opened the tournament with 1-over rounds of 71. The cut line is likely to shift some on Friday, but will begin at 1-under.
The stakes are slightly higher this week than at most regular PGA Tour events. There are four bids to the British Open on the line for players who aren’t qualified but finish in the top 12. The majority of the field is not currently qualified for the third major of the year and a stroke or two in the second round could end up making a major difference on Sunday. Of the 17 players tied for 10th or better through 18 holes, only five are qualified for the British Open.
Blixt went off in the morning wave on Thursday, but will tee off in the afternoon on Friday. He’ll play with Jimmy Walker and Scott Stallings. The three are scheduled to tee off at 1 p.m. ET. Golf Channel will provide live second-round television coverage, with the broadcast running from 3 to 7 p.m. That will allow viewers to watch Blixt and the rest of the afternoon wave live. Blixt and his trio will likely be close to the turn when coverage begins. Steve Stricker, Marc Leishman, John Daly and Bill Haas will also be among the afternoon wave.
In addition to the television coverage, there will also be radio and online coverage of the second round. Viewers able to authenticate their cable subscription can watch a live online simulcast of the Golf Channel broadcast. The stream will be available from NBC LiveExtra. Radio coverage from PGA Tour Radio will run from 1 to 7 p.m.
