2014 Wyndham Championship: Tee times, TV schedule for Sunday’s round in Greensboro

There will be FedExCup implications on the line in addition to the Wyndham Championship on Sunday in Greensboro.

Todd Warshaw

For the seventh time in his PGA Tour career, Nick Watney will begin the final round of an event in the lead when he tees off on Sunday at the Wyndham Championship. He won’t, however, want history to repeat itself. Watney won just one of the six previous times he began the final round atop the leaderboard. With a number of players within range of the lead, Watney will likely need to play well if he’s going to make it 2-for-7.

A birdie on No. 18 on Saturday moved Watney to 14-under for the tournament and one stroke ahead of Brad Fritsch. The two will make up the final pairing on Sunday and are scheduled to tee off at 2:05 p.m. PT. A dozen players are within four strokes of Watney’s lead and with low scores likely at Sedgefield Country Club, it could still be anyone’s tournament. Brandt Snedeker and Webb Simpson are among the biggest names in the field and they will be paired in the final round. Both players are 11-under. They will form the third-to-last group with a scheduled tee time of 1:45 p.m. ET.

A number of players off the lead still have plenty to play for. The tournament marks the end of the PGA Tour regular season, so spots in the FedExCup playoffs and exempt Tour status will be on the line. Jhonattan Vegas and Paul Casey are currently No. 124 and No. 125 in the standings. Both have played well this week. Vegas will begin the final round tied for 14th place while Casey is tied for 18th. Nicholas Thompson, who opened the tournament in 123rd place, appears to be the most vulnerable heading into the final round. Sang-Moon Bae and J.J. Henry could jump him or others. Bae will begin the final round tied for 26th while Henry is tied for 36th. Strong finishes could earn enough points to put Thompson, Casey or Vegas on the outside.

Golf Channel and CBS will combine for television and online coverage. Golf Channel will begin the coverage at 1 p.m. with the broadcast running until 2:30 p.m. CBS will pick up coverage at 3 p.m. and broadcast the rest of the final round. There will be live simulcast streams for both broadcasts.
