In any week, there’s a library of wonderful, world-class golf shots that we could show you. But that’s no fun. The terrible outcomes are always the best to share. We’re not used to seeing these pros slice, hook, chunk, and whiff like regular weekend hackers, so we’re obliged to pass those along when we do see something extraordinarily ugly.
Gregory Bourdy takes full swing, golf ball goes backwards
A wall of fescue sends Gregory Bourdy’s ball the wrong way at the Czech Masters.

So here’s a clip of Gregory Bourdy taking a full swing out of some junk earlier at the Czech Masters, and his ball finishing a few yards behind where it started. The point of golf is generally to advance the ball toward the hole, so this was not ideal.
The high hay is a common feature of Euro golf, but it’s extremely rare to see the ball totally stuffed by the fescue like that. Bourdy finished in 23rd place and had little impact on Sunday’s final round in Prague, but at least he authored the only shot we’ll probably remember from it.
