2014 WGC Bridgestone Invitational: Tee times, pairings for Sunday’s round at Firestone

It will be Rory McIlroy and Sergio Garcia in the final pairing on Sunday with several other notable names chasing.

It may only be a warmup for the PGA Championship next week, but the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational has been about as good as golf fans could have hoped for. Sergio Garcia will open the final round in the lead, and while he’s been excellent all week, he may need another very good round if he’s going to hold off Rory McIlroy and the rest of the field.

Garcia will begin the final round at 14-under, three strokes ahead of the field. At 11-under, McIlroy is in second place and will join Garcia in the final pairing. The two were in the late groups at the British Open, with McIlroy holding off Garcia and Rickie Fowler to win the Claret Jug. Both continue to play as well as anyone in the world, which should make for an entertaining final round. With 49 of the top 50 players in the world in the field, the Bridgestone Invitational features a star-studded leaderboard. A pair of Australians will make up the second-to-last group with Adam Scott and Marc Leishman paired together. Leishman will open the round in third place at 9-under, while Scott is tied for fourth at 8-under. Keegan Bradley and Justin Rose are also tied for fourth and they will be paired together.

Not every big name will be in contention on the final day from Firestone. Tiger Woods would likely need to threaten a 59 then have the top of the leaderboard falter significantly if he is going to have a shot at winning for a ninth time at Firestone. The defending champion will open the final round at 1-over, 15 shots off the lead. He will tee off at 10:45 a.m. ET, playing with Bubba Watson. Phil Mickelson, Jordan Spieth, Ian Poulter and Matt Kuchar will be among the other notable names playing in the morning wave.

Golf Channel and CBS will combine to provide more than five hours of live coverage. Coverage will begin at noon on Golf Channel before moving to CBS at 2 p.m. The final four groups will tee off after 1:30 p.m., so viewers will be able to watch the majority of the key shots live as they happen. Garcia and McIlroy are scheduled to tee off at 2:05 p.m., after the CBS coverage begins.
