2014 PGA Championship live stream: How to watch Friday’s round online

The PGA Championship rolls on from Valhalla with Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods once again the focus of the online coverage.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Weather conditions were ideal for the first round of the PGA Championship, leading to low scores on Thursday. Friday figures to be the opposite with possible rain and thunderstorms in the forecast. That could lead to a long and wet day. It could also lead to some separation in the field. The field is relatively bunched heading into Friday with nine shots separating the top 125 players. Rory McIlroy is among the players pushing for the lead to start the second round, but if viewers want to see him play live, they will have to utilize an online stream.

TNT will once again provide at least six hours of live coverage, but the broadcast isn’t scheduled to begin until 1 p.m. ET. McIlroy -- who will open the day at 5-under, one stroke off the lead -- is scheduled to tee off at 8:35 a.m. and may be done with his round by the time television coverage begins. That could change if there is a weather delay in the morning. Either way, viewers will be able to watch every shot McIlroy and his playing partners hit, thanks to a featured group stream from PGA.com. McIlroy will once again be paired in the major championship group with Masters winner Bubba Watson and U.S. Open champ Martin Kaymer. The three will be the featured group of the morning wave and have a dedicated stream following their rounds.

Tiger Woods will tee off in the afternoon and will play his round during the television window. Viewers can watch dedicated coverage of his round online with Woods, Phil Mickelson and Padraig Harrington making up the featured group of the afternoon wave. Woods struggled on Thursday and will begin the second round at 3-over. The projected cut to start the day is even par, so Woods will likely need an under-par round if he’s going to be around for the weekend. Woods, Mickelson and Harrington are scheduled to tee off at 1:45 p.m.

In addition to the featured group stream, viewers will be able to catch an additional glimpse of the action with a par-3 stream. The stream will show the par-3 holes and is scheduled to run from 1 to 7 p.m. That should allow viewers to watch additional live golf on top of what the television broadcast is airing.

Both the featured group streams and the par-3 stream will be available on PGA.com and through the PGA Championship app. The PGA Championship app is available on both Apple and Android devices. Here is a complete look at the second round coverage, including the options to watch the round online. All times Eastern.
