Erik Compton tosses golf club, punts the air after awful shot

This is one way to get angry at a bad shot.

Stuart Franklin

Everyone loves Erik Compton. There’s not a person in the crowd or media who roots against the two-time heart transplant survivor, and we all just want him to get that first win and stay on the PGA Tour forever.

But at the PGA Championship, we have to laugh a little at his expense. Adam Sarson uncovered this moment of frustration from someone on the third tee, and after some late night sleuthing, deduced that it was Compton who got so disgusted with his tee shot that he decided to toss his club and punt the air.

Compton missed the cut by a shot, so that double bogey on the third would have made a big difference.

We wish he was still around on the weekend, but we’re happy he provided this most entertaining reaction. That’s how you get angry on the golf course.
