Sergio Garcia honors Seve Ballesteros coming out of 1st tee tunnel at the Ryder Cup

Seve is always on the mind of the European side at the Ryder Cup, especially the Spaniards.

We’ve chronicled this week how incredible the scene is at the first tee of the Ryder Cup, and the Euro Tour added an element by creating a “coming out of the tunnel” entrance much like you’d find in other major sports. It’s been cool to see these guys emerge out of the lit tunnel to a few thousand fans roaring at the first tee box.

The tunnel is also lined with images of past Euro Ryder Cup greats. Seve Ballesteros is the the greatest of them all, the icon for the European team. And just before his Sunday singles match, Spaniard Sergio Garcia, a direct descendant of the Seve style, honored the man as he came out of the tunnel.

Garcia has a history of wonderful moments at the Ryder Cup. This moment was especially poignant. The European side has Seve silhouettes on some of their apparel again, just as they did in 2012 when Spaniard Jose Maria Olazabal captained the European side.
