The Presidents Cup 2015 live stream: How to watch Saturday’s matches online

We got a competitive score, some rules drama and a little bit of taunting to put some juice into the Presidents Cup at the start of Saturday’s double session.

There’s some new life in the Presidents Cup thanks to the Internationals stepping up on Day 2 and Phil Mickelson doing Phil Mickelson things to stir up the fans and his opponent.

It may not last long if the US team trounces the Internationals in Saturday morning’s foursomes session, a format that has been the Internationals undoing throughout this event’s history. But at least we roll into the weekend with some momentum and anticipation, as well as a Saturday morning session in Korea that will actually fall within a reasonable primetime viewing block on Friday night back in the United States.

Unlike the Ryder Cup, which schedules two double sessions in its first two interminable days, the Presidents Cup opts to split four sessions across three days and begin on Thursday. It certainly makes things more manageable and provides plenty of cushion in case of inclement weather.

Saturday’s double, which features two separate formats, jams things up and requires an early start just after dawn. The first match will go around 7 a.m. local time in Korea and 6:05 p.m. ET on Friday back in the States. The morning foursomes session, which is alternate shot and moves quickly because there are just two balls in play for the four players, should be done by about 10 or 10:30 p.m. ET.

The second session will weed out the larger primetime audience and leave only the die-hards. That four-ball format, which takes longer, could go as deep as 4 a.m. ET Saturday morning back in the eastern U.S. The two captains will also have to get some of their lesser players out on the course, because there are a few who have not filled the quota that you must play two matches before Sunday’s singles session.

International captain Nick Price was successful in reducing the number of overall points and matches from 34 to 30. It allows him to hide some of his weaker players against the deeper USA roster, and Saturday’s double session is one area where he did that. The day used to have five matches in each session and 10 total points on the day, but it will be eight points this Saturday in Korea.

If you’re unable to watch on TV, or would just rather have the MLB postseason or football on your TV, or go do any other normal Friday activity, you will still be able to check in on a second screen via livestream. Golf Channel will have a simulcast of their coverage up and running on their LiveExtra service by 6 p.m. ET. The full match schedule and tee times for the day are here. And here are your media options:

UPDATE: Inclement weather in Korea pushed everything back one hour over there Saturday morning, so the first match will not tee off until 7:05 p.m. ET Friday back in the States. The second session will be affected and darkness could become an issue later in the day if there are further delays.
