Donald Trump returns 3-iron thrown in lake to Rory McIlroy

The buffoonish Donald Trump has done a good job of making Rory McIlroy’s 3-iron the star of this week’s PGA Tour event at his Doral course. After McIlroy launched the Nike club into the lake abutting the 8th hole on Friday, Trump sent “one of my divers” into the drink and had it pulled from the bottom.

Then on Sunday, Trump arranged a little ceremony on the driving range at Doral and returned the water-logged club to McIlroy. Rory, of course, won’t be using it for the final round (he had a new one shipped in for the third round), and if he doesn’t want it back at all, Trump will reportedly auction it off for charity.

There were allegedly multiple clubs tossed in that hazard over the years, but this one was specifically stamped with “RM” and the grip design matched the ones used for Rory’s clubs.
