Michelle Wie scored a 7-over 78 in Thursday’s opening round of the LPGA’s Kingsmill Championship and then withdrew from the tournament with a hip injury.

Wie tweeted her regrets soon after signing for a round that included a lone birdie, six bogeys, and a double.

It has been a struggle since then, as the four-time tour winner has suffered a string of injuries and illnesses that began with a nagging finger issue that forced her to withdraw from the 2014 LPGA Classic and Evian Championship.
