Someone paid for a ‘Cheater’ banner to fly over Tiger Woods at the U.S. Open

So there’s that.

Tiger Woods is in the midst of what started as a lousy first round at the U.S. Open. While he makes his way around Chambers Bay, a plane is flying overhead toting a “Cheater” banner. No, seriously.

You can kinda, sorta make out the sign in this picture from SB Nation’s Brendan Porath:

Tiger Plane

While Woods’ infidelity with his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, was well documented, there is also a chance the banner isn’t intended for Woods. It could be any of the 156 players in the field, or anyone tied to the event. Patrick Reed has been accused of cheating during tournaments while at the University of Georgia. Reed is already done with his round, so if the sign was intended for him, it was poorly timed.

This wasn’t the only plane banner circling the course on Thursday. There was also this!
