U.S. Open tee times 2015: Pairings and start time for Saturday’s round

Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed for what should be an entertaining final group.

It was an eventful first two days at Chambers Bay with plenty of action at the 2015 U.S. Open. The field has been cut from 156 to 75 and now the attention turns to who can actually walk away with the trophy. Fresh off his win at the Masters, Jordan Spieth is tied at the top of the leaderboard as he plays for major championship No. 2. He’ll play in the final group on Sunday and be joined by a familiar foe in Patrick Reed.

Spieth and Reed are two of the best young players on the PGA Tour. They’ve teamed up at times -- including the Ryder Cup -- while also going head-to-head at others. They have twice battled directly for a tournament, with Reed winning one playoff and Spieth taking the other. The U.S. Open might come down to a similar head-to-head battle, but that will have to wait for Sunday. For now, Spieth and Reed will continue to try to out duel a difficult golf course and remain in contention heading into Sunday.

With the tournament being played in Washington and on Pacific time, the final few groups won’t tee off until late in the day on the East coast. Spieth and Reed are scheduled to tee off at 5:50 p.m. ET while Dustin Johnson and Branden Grace -- the second-to-last pairing -- will go off the first tee 11 minutes prior, at 5:39 p.m. Television coverage will run on FOX from 2 p.m. through the end of the round, so much of the key action will occur during prime time for most of the United States.

Although Spieth and Reed lead, they only hold a one-shot advantage and a difficult golf course could serve as an equalizer of sorts. Any number of players could jump back into contention with a solid third round, especially if dry and fast afternoon conditions make for some over-par scores from the current leaders. There are 20 players at even or better and seemingly still have a shot. That includes Matt Kuchar and Jason Dufner at even, Henrik Stenson at 1-under and Jason Day at 2-under. Dufner and Kuchar will play in a group together, scheduled to tee off at 4:11 p.m. Stenson will take his turn at the first tee 22 minutes later, at 4:33 p.m.

Television coverage is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and there will be a few recognizable names on the course in the early going. Phil Mickelson will tee off at 2:10 p.m. while Rory McIlroy, Ian Poulter, Keegan Bradley and others will already be a few holes into their round.

In addition to the main television coverage on FOX, viewers will also be able to follow the third round action via a handful of online streams. That includes a featured group stream a featured holes stream focused on Nos. 12 and 15 and “U.S. Open 360” coverage. All three streams will begin at 2 p.m.

Here is a complete look at the third round tee times. Amateur Nick Hardy will begin the day at 11:03 a.m.
