Billy Horschel hasn’t held his tongue this week at the U.S. Open, criticizing the greens at Chambers Bay several times. He went as far as mocking the way they are rolling during his round on Sunday. After he finished playing, he sounded off again and said he’s lost some respect for the USGA because of the setup.

There have been plenty of critics, but Horschel remains the most outspoken critic of the Chambers Bay greens.

“These greens aren’t very good, I’m not going to hold my tongue on this,” Horschel said during his FOX interview. “This is very disappointing to hold a championship caliber tournament on greens like this, very inconsistent. We’re not looking for perfection, but they surely aren’t very good.”
“Like I said, the greens just aren’t, they’re not great, and it makes great putters very average and putters that may not be very good average as well. It brings everyone back to normalcy. It doesn’t allow someone who’s a really good putter to shine this week.”
Following his round on Saturday, Horschel took to Twitter to call the greens the worst he’d ever putted on. He also criticized Mike Davis, the head of the USGA, for claims that the greens were not bad.
“I played out my tail, out my ass, to shoot 3-under par,” Horschel said after the round “And I really felt like I should have shot 6, 7 or 8-under, but I wasn’t able to due to the fact that some of the putts I hit just hit some really bad spots on the greens and got off line and didn’t go in.”
