John Daly draws Miguel Angel Jimenez at The Open and now we can’t wait for Thursday

It’s been 20 years since John Daly won the Open Championship and to celebrate, the R&A gives you a Daly-Miguel Angel Jimenez-Jason Dufner threesome on Thursday and Friday.

John Daly’s psyched to kick off the 20th anniversary of his 1995 British Open victory.

Added bonus: Long John will be celebrating in the company of Miguel Angel Jimenez and Jason Dufner and Twitter is absolutely beside itself over the grouping.

Jordan Spieth and his quest for three majors in a row may be the favorite this week as he starts the British alongside U.S. Open runner-up Dustin Johnson and Japanese phenom Hideki Matsuyama. And Tiger Woods will attract the usual circus that travels with the 14-time major champion as he tries — accompanied by Louis Oosthuizen and Jason Day — to nab that elusive 15th.

But, really, Thursday is all about the loudmouth man in the middle of that anything-can-happen-Thursday troika, is it not?

Warm up the DVR because the Daly trio tees off at 7:50 a.m. ET on Thursday and 2:49 a.m. on Friday. Thank you for this wonderful gift, British Open.
