Bubba Watson knows how to find American fast food and wear a kilt in Scotland

Remember when Bubba Watson and Rickie Fowler drowned their sorrows over losing the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles by donning fright wigs and kilts?

Turns out that some of the boys who don’t have two Masters titles — and who were joined by a couple of their European masters — went commando under their traditional Scottish garb.

“I don’t know if you look at social media ever but when we lost the Ryder Cup, me, Rickie, Sergio [Garcia], and Rory … we all wore those in our team room,” Watson told reporters Tuesday from another Scottish landmark, the Old Course at St. Andrews, ahead of this week’s British Open. “I had underwear on under mine. Some other guys did not.”

Watson, who celebrated his 2014 Masters triumph by chowing down at a Waffle House in Augusta, has picked out potential local dining venues should he overcome his less-than-stellar Open Championship record and improbably lift the Claret Jug on Sunday.

“I noticed there was a Domino’s Pizza across the street here,” said Watson, whose best record in this event is a T23 in 2012. “I haven’t seen a McDonald’s yet and I know from past experience there’s a Subway, I think, if it’s still there.

“Something like that, something easy,” added Bubba, who missed the Open Championship cut last year at Hoylake to go with two other MCs (2009, 2010), a T30 (2011), and a T32 (2013).

But if those fortunes change, count on a Domino’s pizza pie or a fine Subway sandwich come Sunday night in St. Andrews.
