John Daly and his amazing pants are moving up the British Open leaderboard

Daly, in his bright pink and green pants, is actually making a move at St. Andrews.

Enjoy it while you can but John Daly is in the hunt at the British Open!

Daly, in his typically garish trousers that are an affront to the traditional look at St. Andrews, played his first 10 holes in 4-under. That’s nine shots better than Tiger Woods was in that same stretch, and just one worse than Jordan Spieth.

The Open Championship is a major where some old-timers and has-beens can make a charge. Tom Watson nearly won it at 59 years old in 2009. We got three straight 40-plus winners from 2011-2013.

Daly has won a British Open at St. Andrews and it’s a course that rewards long hitters. But if we’re being honest, it’s only a matter of time before a couple large crooked numbers pop up on his scorecard and he checks out and goes back to his Marlboros.

For the moment, however, we’ll dream and hope that Daly holds on and is a part of this Championship for the rest of the weekend.
