Severe weather near Whistling Straits forced PGA officials to blow the horn and suspend play during the second round of the 2015 PGA Championship. Heavy storms moved in quickly with wind, rain, thunder and lighting all in the area. Play will resume Saturday morning at 8 a.m. ET.

The weather stoppage doesn’t come as a major surprise as it was a topic during much of the afternoon action. Forecasts leading into the week showed late Friday could be a troublesome spot, but the forecast for the weekend is clear and shouldn’t be an impact going forward. The longer the day went on Friday, the darker the clouds got and the more it seemed to be a matter of if, not when, there would be a delay.
A total of 57 players are still on the course, and they will complete their second rounds Saturday morning. The plan is to begin the third round 30 minutes after the second round concludes, and the field will play in pairings of two as is standard for weekend play. With clear weather expected, completing the third round on Saturday should be possible.
