PGA Championship 2015 TV schedule and coverage for Sunday’s final round

Only 18 holes remain in the 2015 PGA Championship and if the closing round is anything like the preceding 54 holes, viewers should be in for an entertaining and eventful finish. Thanks to excellent scoring conditions, the leaderboard has been extremely fluid with players trading birdies to make a run at the lead. That could mean for a down-to-the-wire finish with more than a dozen players well within range of the lead.

A number of players dipped well into the low-to-mid 60s in the third rounds with birdies plentiful. That included Jordan Spieth who ripped off six birdies in his final eight holes to close strong and shoot a 65. That shot him up the leaderboard to 13-under. For the fourth time this year, Spieth will begin the final round of a major championship with a very legitimate shot to win. He won the Masters and the U.S. Open before coming up just short at the British Open. He will tee toff in the final pairing on Sunday.

if Spieth is going to walk away with another major win, he will have to jump past Jason Day. Day claimed the 36-hole lead at 15-under after a strong third round. Day carded a 6-under round of 66 to take a two-stroke lead. Day nearly had an even better round, but slipped up on No. 15 with a double bogey. Even still, he’s in excellent position to come away with his first major championship win. Day has nine top 10 finishes in majors on his resume, including three runner ups. He is among the first names that are mentioned when discussing the best players on Tour without a major championship. he could remove his name from that list at Whistling Straits if he plays like he did on Saturday.

The schedule on Saturday got thrown off with the second round being forced to an early Saturday morning finish. Although the final groups played while the sun began to set, everyone was able to get the third round in leaving a standard Sunday schedule for the final round. TNT and CBS will combine on television coverage with eight hours of live broadcast scheduled.

The first players will tee off before 9 a.m. ET with television coverage scheduled to start two hours later at 11 a.m. TNT will handle the broadcast from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. before coverage shifts to CBS at 2 p.m. for the rest of the round. The leaders will tee off after 2 p.m. with Spieth and Day scheduled to step to the first tee at 2:45 p.m. That will allow viewers to watch nearly every key shot live and there will be extensive coverage following the late groups.

In addition to the main coverage, there will also be a few supplemental streams. PGA.com will provide a marque group stream as well as a Par 3 stream. There will also be TV simulcasts from PGA.com and CBSSports.com. The two supplemental streams will start at 11 a.m. while the live simulcasts will follow the TV coverage.
