Jason Dufner saved a spot in Sunday’s sudden-death playoff at the CareerBuilder Challenge -- and parlayed that into his first win since 2013 -- with an incredible chip shot on the par-3 17th hole that could have gone horribly awry.
Jason Dufner’s win propelled by ‘one in 50 million’ chip shot from the rocks
The Duf Daddy had not won on the PGA Tour since 2013, but thanks in large part to this miracle recovery shot off the rocks, he’s back in the winner’s circle.

Don't try hitting it Jason. Been there. Done that. Double bogey. @PGATOUR https://t.co/pJsUaZ37I9
— Chesson Hadley (@chessonhadley) January 24, 2016 Instead -- unlike the disaster that earlier in the contest befell Chesson Hadley -- well, this miracle happened:
Even the stone-faced Duf mouthed a “Wow” after his shot nearly for the ages almost went in after clipping the pin, and his PGA Tour colleague was duly impressed, as well.

— Chesson Hadley (@chessonhadley) January 25, 2016 Hadley, who missed the cut, may enlist the 2013 PGA champ to teach him how to get out of jail when your tourney life depends on it.
Congrats @JasonDufner on the win. You will have to show me the shot off the rocks on 17 sometime.
— Chesson Hadley (@chessonhadley) January 25, 2016 A par on the second extra frame lifted Dufner over David Lingmerth, after each of them ended regulation at 25-under.
“It was probably like one in like 50 million that that ball ends up there,” Dufner said with a laugh after compiling his fourth tour win and leaping from 120th to 60th in the world rankings. “But I’ll take it. I’ll take it. Some guy won the Powerball a couple weeks ago, he’ll take it, right?”
