Following a back-and-forth opening day, the 2016 Ryder Cup continues on Saturday with a second round of fourball and foursome matches. The United States opens the second day with a slim 5-3 lead, and fates could change drastically on Saturday with eight more points up for grabs.

Day 2 begins with four foursome matches.

Day 2 will again begin with four foursome matches. The foursomes were especially kind to the United States on Friday with the Americans winning every match to jump out to a 4-0 lead. Unsurprisingly, the United States will mostly go back to the recipe that worked last time, trotting out three of the four same pairings.
The only change comes with Brandt Snedeker and Brooks Koepka swapping in for Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar. Snedeker and Koepka played very well as a duo in the afternoon fourball on Friday.
Patrick Reed and Jordan Spieth will be back as they attempt to maintain their excellent Ryder Cup record. Spieth and Reed won their foursome match on Day 1 before dropping their fourball contest in the afternoon. Even with the loss, they are still 3-1 as a pairing in Ryder Cup history. They will be the final American team off the tee in the morning.
After being swept in the first four foursome matches, European captain Darren Clarke mixed things up heading into the second set of foursome matches. All four pairings on Saturday are different than they were during the foursomes on Friday. That includes the debut of a pair of Ryder Cup rookies. Matt Fitzpatrick and Chris Wood both sat out on Friday, but will get thrust into the spotlight on Day 2. They will both have Ryder Cup veterans to lean on, however, with Fitzpatrick playing with Henrik Stenson while Wood plays with Justin Rose.
Although the United States got off to a great start, Europe surged in the afternoon to end any thoughts of a blowout. The Europeans won three of the four fourball matches in the afternoon and did so in convincing fashion. It all sets up what should be another entertaining day from Hazeltine.
