How to watch Tiger Woods at Hero World Challenge live online on Sunday

It’s an NFL Sunday but set aside time to watch Tiger’s final round in the Bahamas.

A sentence we haven’t seen in a long time: Tiger Woods will start a Sunday round on the PGA Tour inside the top 10!

Nevermind that there are only 17 players in the field and it’s, well, not really a PGA Tour event even though it’s sanctioned and operated by the Tour. The point is: Tiger is back playing golf and he looks pretty good!

Sundays in December are owned by the NFL, but it’s worth paying attention to the Big Cat down in the Bahamas. He’s been strutting and club twirling around this resort course through his first three rounds in some 16 months and it’s delectable. This is not some U.S. Open test so we’ll probably see another birdie streak or two on Sunday that whips us into a frenzy yet again. Even if this is some silly season event, we’re allowed to lose some perspective given the prolonged wait we had to endure for this Tiger return.

It’s a nice windfall for the Tour, the game, and its broadcast partners. The fourth quarter of the year can be a wasteland, even with that newish PGA Tour wraparound schedule. Suffice to say the presence of Tiger, after such a long time away, should boost the ratings of what’s supposed to be a sleepy weekend into some of the best of the golf year.

Golf Channel and NBC will once again split the coverage on Sunday. It’s rare for NBC to step in this time of year and carry golf on the weekend, but Tiger putting his name behind a silly season event will do that. Johnny Miller didn’t make the trip to the Bahamas, but David Feherty is there and calling it from the No. 1 chair in the tower with Dan Hicks. Steve Sands and Curt Byrum will provide the commentary in the early portion of the round on Golf Channel.

Tiger will play with Louis Oosthuizen in the final round, going at 11:31 a.m. ET. The tee times and broadcast have been moved up slightly on Sunday, targeting a 4 p.m. ET finish well in advance of darkness in the Bahamas. So Golf Channel will have the first six or seven holes of Tiger’s round, and then NBC will take it from there. Woods should be done by 3:15 or 3:30 with four more twosomes playing behind him, including runaway leader Hideki Matsuyama with a 12:15 p.m. tee time.

If you cannot watch on TV, or would rather save that screen for some crappy NFL game, there will be a simulcast stream up and running on Golf Channel and NBC’s LiveExtra service. Here are all your media options for Sunday at the Hero World Challenge.
