Sergio Garcia’s temper flares at Doral

When Adam Scott outlasted Sergio Garcia to win last week’s Honda Classic, many golf watchers were surprised by the 2013 Masters champion’s ability to navigate the greens. People were surprised with how well Scott did without his familiar putter, but they weren’t surprised he went on to win

A couple of images from Thursday’s first round of the WGC-Cadillac Championship may shed some light on why one of the two Honda contenders owns a green jacket and could be on his way to a second next month, and the other is still looking for his first major win.

This incident may have provoked Garcia into something more than the annoyed glance Scott gave to the man in blue moving behind him on his backswing, a distraction that resulted in a rather heavy mishit.

Scott, who started the day with an eagle-3 at the 10th, his first hole, went on to rack up a tidy 4-under 68, two shots back of co-leaders Scott Piercy and Marcus Fraser (Big 3 who, now?)

Sergio, well, he’ll head into Friday’s second round at 1-over perhaps with a new stick and bag after he expressed some displeasure with both of them during the opener.
