Masters leaderboard 2016: Jordan Spieth still out in front at Augusta National

Whatever struggles Jordan Spieth has battled with his swing this week at the Masters didn’t magically get worked out overnight heading into the final round, but he continues to recover well enough to remain in the lead at Augusta National.

Spieth has been far from sharp getting to the green this week, especially off the tee and with longer approach shots. Those issues have again cropped up in the final round. Still, Spieth continues to be lights out with his short game and on the greens.

His putting has spared him from significant damage on Sunday. He opened the day at 3-under, one shot clear of the the rest of the field. He dipped to 4-under after a birdie at No. 2. He gave that stroke back with a bogey at No. 5. Spieth’s putter came through again on No. 6, when he drained a lengthy birdie putt to move to 4-under through six.

At the same time, the rest of the field has been unable to make a charge. Danny Willett is 2-under on his round and has moved into second place at 2-under for the tournament.

It’s been an up-and-down day for most of the rest of the field. Although conditions aren’t as difficult as they were earlier in the week and red numbers are more prevalent, the course is still proving to be a stiff challenge. Rory McIlroy is a perfect example. He has three birdies through nine holes, but they have been canceled out with three bogeys. He remains even on the round and six shots off the lead.

There are currently just four players in red numbers for the tournament. There are some solid birdie opportunities on the back nine, however, so that number could increase with a host of players hovering around even par. That group includes Dustin Johnson and Jason Day, who are both 1-over.

Here is a snapshot of the leaderboard. For a live leaderboard, head over to Masters.com.
