This Bryson DeChambeau shot shows how brutal the rough is at Oakmont

Bryson DeChambeau was playing excellent golf on Thursday at the U.S. Open. He birdied four of his first eight holes and was sitting in second place. Then he arrived at No. 18 and this happened.

Oakmont is an extremely challenging course, but it can be a manageable one. If players put themselves in good positions, good things happen. But there is such a razor-thin margin of error. DeChambeau found out the hard way after finding the rough with his tee shot on No. 18. He attempted to take on the rough with his second shot and lost badly. The ball barely got off the ground and shot into a bunker.

Things spiraled from there with DeChambeau’s bunker shot going well over the green. He eventually went on to make a double bogey. From full control and cruising to struggling to even find the green. Oakmont can bite back and in a hurry.
