Bubba Watson crushes driver onto the green of a 377-yard par-4

You’re never safe when you’re playing one group ahead of Bubba, who rolled one right through the green from 377 yards away.

We’ve heard all about how short Royal Troon’s opening holes can play for the modern big hitters and Bubba Watson is pushing it to the limit early at The Open. While many players are taking irons, some as low as 6-irons, off some of these opening tees, Bubba has been pulling driver.

Bubba went for the big stick at No. 1 and again at No. 3, where the group ahead was still up on the green. That group would promptly be joined by a fourth, as Bubba’s ball on this 377-yard par-4 came rolling through and just past the hole. The caddie in the group ahead had just pulled the flag ... but presumably not for Bubba;s approaching ball.
