Bubba Watson spends his week off opening a candy store

Bubba Watson can indulge his sweet tooth all he wants now that he’s opened his own candy store.

Sports fans of a certain vintage may recall that Victor Kiam, the late owner of the 1988-92 New England Patriots, liked Remington razors so much he “bought the company.” Well, to candy lover Bubba Watson, it was a no-brainer for him to go one better and open his own confectionery.

Watson, a resident of the Greenbrier, which is still closed after the recent fatal flooding in West Virginia, went back to his home state to prepare for this week’s PGA Championship. While there, he hung out a shingle on Bubba’s Sweet Spot.

“I left [The Greenbrier] because the courses weren’t open. So I left to go back to my house in Florida,” Watson said during a Tuesday press conference at Baltusrol. “Opened up a candy shop while I was there. It’s a candy shop — fudge, ice cream, candy, things like that.”

Not that he needs the coin, but if he isn’t careful, the two-time Masters winner may eat up all of his sugary profits.

“Who doesn’t like candy and fudge and ice cream?” he responded to a query about why he’s now dealing in hand-crafted bonbons. “So I’m spending the most money in there.”

Who indeed, Bubba?
